Creating intuitive art with plaster and paint liberates the canvas from two-dimensional limitations and introduces opportunities to express completely unplanned but still meaningful art.  In Broken Beginnings, a palette knife and fork were used to shape and texture plaster on canvas with no conscious thought of a theme or compositional direction.  It was only with the final stroke of paint, and rotating the canvas, that I beheld a hand at the upper right, as if reaching down to pick up something broken and in pieces.
