Animal lovers and pet owners will be inspired by Brooklyn when I confess I never intended to create an abstract portrait of my beloved Great Dane by the same name. 

She is a beautiful harlequin who is certainly worthy of a portrait, but she was nowhere around when I created this painting.  In fact, this piece started out as a “revenge painting”.  Revenge paintings in my studio are those that cover over previous paintings not worth a book of stamps.  My goal was to irradicate the previous (and horrible) painting by randomly pouring leftover paints over it with no composition or subject in mind.  After a while, my pareidolia kicked in and Brooklyn emerged.  Even when our furry loved ones aren’t with us physically, they are always close in our hearts and minds.
