The first painting in the series entitled 'Excavations', Excavation I explores the use of painting techniques analogous to those used in archeology to reveal and unearth long buried artifacts from the ancient past. 

Techniques like scrapping, troweling, washing, scrubbing, carving, gridding, and brushing were employed during the painting process to displace and remove layers of paint revealing unexpected "artifacts" or "effects" hidden to simple brushwork.

The silhouetted avatar, the Excavator, serves as the protagonist throughout this series, guiding viewers on a journey through space and time to root out that which is hidden and priceless.
